- I finally set up the tent a couple of weeks ago, and the kids and I tried to sleep in it. Way. Too. Hot. One by one the kids started bailing on me. And then Izzy woke up in an apparent night terror and would not stop screaming/crying for over an hour. Yeah--that was fun. Never mind.
- We tried again a week later when it was much cooler, and once again, kids started bailing on me. And Izzy was the only one who stuck it through and slept all night in the tent with me. She's my Camping Girl! I was awakened at six AM with a downpour hitting our tent. I can safely say that there are no major leaks in our tent. Yeesh! I woke up Izzy and said, "Let's make a run for it!" She was all for sleeping in more, but we had stuff planned early that morning, so I didn't want to sleep in (no clocks in the tent, so I didn't know it was THAT early). We wrapped our sleeping bags around us and ran--now THAT was fun!
- We had visitors this weekend! Our good friends Jeff and Paula came and brought little Josh. Of course, their timing was a bit off. John and I had ANOTHER concert to go to Friday night (next bullet). If we'd known they were coming ahead of time, we would have bought them tickets, too. As it was, Jeff and Paula got to drive all day just so that they could babysit our kids! Sweet! Saturday, we were all kinda slow getting up, but we did finally make it to the children's museum to show little Josh the sights. It was fun to see it in a "new" 2-year old perspective again! He had a ball running around and playing in the exhibits (as did our three, really). We had to stop for lunch, and then the little guy was tired (Ah yes, the afternoon nap! We forgot about planning around those!), so we came home. Saturday evening we were hoping to go see the waterfall downtown, but it started pouring down rain. So instead we bought some sushi and cooked steaks on the grill, and just enjoyed each other's company. Sunday they left, and we all missed the fun of the little guy. (Too bad Zuko was just a little too playful around him and scared the dickens out of him--the puppy spent a good chunk of their visit in his crate.)
- So! Friday night! John and I went to our Penultimate Summer Concert Experience! This time we went to see the Black Keys and the Flaming Lips. I knew as soon as I saw the confetti guns and the big bag of giant balloons that THIS was going to be a FUN show. The Black Keys were outstanding. The Flaming Lips were just FUN. Great sound. Most enjoyable concert. We were only four rows back from the front.
- Here's a video of Wayne surfing the crowd in his "Space Bubble Thing." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXMVD5yRu6o
- Did you notice my dash and five and six keys are working again? Tech Support sent me a new keyboard, John installed it, and viola! Working keys again! Yay!
- I just now took down the tent that has now been up for two and a half weeks. Well, a little rain did pool in it, and I was hoping it would dry out in the sun. No such luck. Good thing I have three kids I can send in there with some towels. heh
- We have a lot of things planned here and there the next few weeks before school starts up again. Basketball camp for Keith, soccer camp for Izzy, a mini-trip here, a bigger trip there. I guess I shouldn't be worrying so much about these "down" days where we all just seem to be sitting around the (cool!) house all day....
