More layoffs happened this week, and for some reason I'm still here. Apparently, I'm considered "essential to operations." It's nice to feel wanted...sorta. I'm relieved I don't have to pound the payment again right away. But I'm somewhat worried that I'll have to do it in a few weeks anyway.
We did get a snippet of good news around here the other day. If this is played out right, myself and the 40 other scarce people still around stand to be properly rewarded. I mean, think about it, with all these folks gone, if the company actually managed to pull ahead, that means the promotion opportunities are ENDLESS. I could practically PICK my own career here.
I will remain optimistic--tinged with just a sliver of panic. If it doesn't work out, I will start chucking out the resume and put on the interview suit again.
