Well, we pooled our resources and decided to renew our membership to the Y. I'm thinking this won't last very long...but I am going to try to enjoy it while it lasts. We opened the membership on Saturday and have already been swimming twice (such a nice change now to have THREE children comfortable enough in the water that I don't have a leech weighing me down the whole time in the pool, and I can just PLAY with them or even take a moment to RELAX by the side of the pool). I've got a copy of the pool schedule in hand and am trying to figure out how to work water aerobics back into my life when they are held the same time as violin/cello lessons. Maybe water walking on those days instead? I don't know, but I am very happy about being in the water again.
I am thinking of forcing myself to check out the other Y options--weights or ellipticals or treadmills? I do not enjoy any of them, but maybe if I reward myself with a dip in the hot tub afterwards, I will be more inclined to try them?
Last Saturday Izzy got to go to a softball clinic in the neighboring suburb (How neighboring? Well, if we lived across the street, the kids would be going to THAT school system instead of the one they are in.) John was just elated. Izzy talked everyone's ear off, BUT she participated! and she did well in her skills! and she did not give dirty looks or any kind of sour grimaces or expressions of misery! And she even was helping show the OTHER little girls how to do whatever drills the 14U girls were teaching them. And one of the coaches made it a point to say to John, "Wow, she's got quite the arm for a 6 year old!" Oh! We may have a child who likes and honestly WANTS to play softball yet. Poor Mary--we never put her in softball forcefully, but she sure as heck never seemed to ENJOY herself while she was in it--nor dance--nor soccer.... At least she likes volleyball.
Speaking of--the volleyball camp starts this weekend. And swimming lessons for now all three start, too. And with the GS events we have going on Friday and Saturday, and with Keith also having a baseball camp of his own Friday night (and also basketball on Saturdays), I'm feeling a bit befuddled about how we're going to get everyone every place they are supposed to be--and in a timely fashion. We've always tried to not over-extend the kids, but the overlaps going on (particularly this weekend) are proving to be a bit much for my OWN sanity. (Which reminds me, I really need to make some phone calls about some rides!)
