One step forward:
We can finally fit the mini-van in the garage! Yay! Just a few more things to rearrange/stash in the basement, and the car will be able to enjoy our new home, too. Whew!
And now for the two steps back:
John started painting Keith's room. He gets one coat on the ceiling and decides "I don't like it". So we're putting our heads together trying to visualize how we want this room to look. But that blue he already put on the ceiling is very, very dark. Methinks we may have to prime before we can paint a lighter color up there! AUGH!!!!

Why not a starfield, bring in the heavens, with a galaxy here and a nebula there? With the right light fixture, in the center a black hole or giant star. Anyway, it's an idea. I'm happy for you all ... and to you too, van.
Amusingly, yes, Keith's room is going to be an outer space theme. But as the first coat of paint went on, John was afraid that blue on the ceiling and three of the four walls would just be too, too dark for a pre-schooler's room. I kinda like it, myself. Oh well.
That's how it always works with homerepair and remodeling. You get one thing done and it just doesn't work right so you end up doing something different. Or you try one thing that would be a cheap fix, but then a week later you have to do the full blown expensive fix. On Keith's room, I think I have only seen one room where the ceiling wasn't painted white that really worked. How dark blue is it? If you wanted to do a lighter blue you might not have to prime, as long as the blue is in the same color family.
