Tensions are Mounting
Contract negotiations are NOT going well--at least that's the impression my Union is leaving us. And, yes, my particular work group's job is certainly one of the "bargaining chips." Just since Monday we've lost our work and then gained it right back! It's causing quite a stir here in the office as management and union members are getting catty and pointing fingers. Not good. I try not to get swept up in all the hype, as I know that up to the midnight hour of negotiations, any kind of proposal can be thrown on the table and accepted or declined. All I know for 100% sure right now is that our one-week contract extension runs out at midnight tonight--and the company and the union are no where NEAR tackling most of the main issues. Hopefully, they will extend again (for a more reasonable period of time than a week!) and get the ball rolling. Until then, I'm keeping in mind one of my acquaintance's sayings, "There are two good jobs: the one you're leaving, and the one you're going to." Getting laid off or a huge pay cut may just be the kick in the pants I need to make some much-needed changes in my life!

"Mommy, what are you doing with that stuff?"
"I'm going to make a new career, but first ... payback."
They laid me off, I laid down supressing fire.
Tomorrow's Headline: Contract Negotiations Over, Contract Killings Begin.
